About the Pediatric Immunology and Allergy

The Department of Pediatric Immunology and Allergy at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine has been actively serving for 14 years since its establishment on February 13, 2010. Our department currently offers the best diagnosis and teratment in the light of new scientific developments with 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 3 research assistants, 2 nurses, a biologist with immunology PhD and a technician. In our clinics, there are 3 polyclinics, 1 allergy test room, a pulmonary function test room, a provocation test room and an Immunology laboratory. In our department; diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of asthma, allergic rhinitis, allergic skin diseases (atopic dermatitis, acute and chronic urticaria), food allergy, drug allergy and immunodeficiency patients under the age of eighteen are carried out. Skin prick tests, pulmonary function tests, food provocation tests, drug provocation tests and immunotherapy are performed. In, was established. Tests required for the diagnosis of primary immunodeficiencies- inborn errors of immunity (lymphocyte subgroups, T cell activation tests, dyhrorhodamine test) are performed in Pediatric Immunology laboratory since 2012. The Department of Immunology was established under the Institute of Health Sciences as a multidisciplinary department in 2014 and there is a PhD program in Immunology.
Pediatric Immunology and Allergy Department provides outpatient and inpatient services for both primary immunodeficiency and allergy patients. Although immunodeficiency diseases are common in our country, there is a limited number of immunologists who provide education in the field of immunology and follow-up of these patients. In our department, patients with primary immunodeficiency are followed up. Our department has the necessary infrastructure to diagnose immunodeficiencies such as severe combined immunodeficiency and chronic granulomatous disease, which require urgent stem cell transplantation.
